It's Giveaway Day!  Sew, Mama, Sew! is coordinating a grand day of giveaways all over blogland, and I'm happy to add to the mix.  I have two different sets to giveaway.

The first is a colorful mix of Galaxy batiks and some swatches of Christmas prints.

The second set is a few pieces of some Michael Miller prints, a half-yard of a Lakehouse green with shiny green polka dots and four fat quarters of Moda Woodland Bloom

To enter this giveaway, please leave a comment.  Make sure you leave a way for me to contact you and if you have a preference for which set you'd like you can leave that as well.  If you have a moment before you need to rush to the next blog giveaway, I'd love to hear about a favorite Christmas tradition, recipe, craft, or present.

I'll pick the two winners on December 6.

Thanks for stopping by!

One of my favorite Christmas recipes kind of sounds weird, but they are so yummy and we make them every Christmas Eve. Wrap chicken with bacon and put on a toothpick with a chunk of pineapple. Cover in a sauce made from equal parts of sugar and ketchup. Broil until cooked through and caramelzed. SO good!

Hello! I'm glad to have found your blog via the giveaway day, and I'm really looking forward to reading your other posts. I adore the Michael Miller fabrics, great stuff. :) I have a Finnish Mushroom Pie recipe I make every year from the Sundays at Moosewood Restaurant cookbook - it is absolutely decadent and to die for, if you like mushrooms. Thanks for participating!

I love the Moda fabric! For Christmas, my mother in law always makes her pretzel salad which is unassumingly delicious.

I love the church traditions at Christmas - the Advent candle lighting, singing, decorating the church, all the anticipation. Probably because it's been a part of my life since childhood.

As for which fabric I prefer, well, I saw the batiks and said, "Ooooh!" Then I scrolled down and saw the Moda and "Oooh!" again...so...either. :)

My favorite Christmas tradition is the village that my parents put under the tree. My grandmother started it years ago, way before department 56 and there's something really magical about it to me. thanks for the giveaway! I'd especially love the Michael Miller prints!

My favorite tradition is the Christmas tree. Going out in the cold (usually at night) to a local tree shop to pick out the best tree. Then going home and decorating it. I love pulling out all the ornaments and remembering how we got them.

Erika said...

One of my favorite Christmas traditions/recipes is the gumbo we make every Christmas Eve using leftover smoked turkey from Thanksgiving that we set aside and froze. So tasty!

Both choices for the giveaway look great! The batiks get a smidge more votes than the other fabric selection because I'm a sucker for batiks.

Laura said...

My favorite Christmas recipe is berry pie. It's so simple and tastes delicious! The trick is not to put in too much sugar so that the tanginess of the berries can really shine.

2 c blueberries
3/4 c sugar
1 T flour
1 t cinnamon

Favorite tradition is that we have sent a picture with every Christmas card for the last 29 years. We then frame one every year and put out the entire collection for the month of December. I love to see the kids growing up before my very eyes. They are 19, 24, 26 this year and still willing to get their photo taken.

We write letters to ourselves on Christmas Eve, and read last year's letters as well. We don't share them with others, so it's just a private time of reflection and humor as we read what silly and special things we wrote in the prior year.

I'm loving option #2!

I like the second set of fabric the best.

I'm also an east(ish) coast girl living on the west coast. Last Christmas I made my mom's kolachki recipe - cookies everyone makes back home. Here, people had never heard of them and just went crazy over them. I've already gone through one batch this season. Luckily I made extra frozen dough for later.

Beautiful fabrics -- the second set is more my color.
I will share a favorite recipe (such as it is)-- Take a pound of Brussels sprouts (washed, trimmed and quartered) and cook on medium high heat in a splash of olive oil. Toss with sea salt and lots of freshly ground pepper. Cook the sprouts until they caramelize and char a bit on the outside. They will be so sweet they taste like candy!

What great fabrics! Our favorite Christmas tradition happens Christmas Eve. In the late afternoon the whole family gets together. I make baked brie en croute and have really good wine on hand for the adults, and everyone brings his or her speciality hors d'oeuvres or finger foods. Then we open the family gift which is a puzzle with 1,000 or more pieces. We spend the evening talking, laughing, and working on the puzzle. Then we all go to Midnight Mass together. The puzzle work usually picks back up after Christmas dinner.

Anonymous said...

Very pretty fabrics, all of them!
A favorite Christmas tradition in our family is observing Advent. It gives our daughter a good, calm way to count down to Christmas, helps us to focus on our faith during the season, and connects us to so many others throughout the world (and history) who celebrate the same things we do.

amber said...

one of my favorite christmas crafts is really something i haven't made, but will someday. as a child we had a set of felt carollers that we put up on the mantel. the set from childhood is starting to fade and shows signs of being so old. turns out the pattern is still in the box, so someday i will be making a new set...the tradition continues.

thanks for you offer. if i had to choose a set, i really like the second one.

Those batiks rock!

My family is still working on our own traditions. But, growing up there was always The christmas story that my mom and I would watch endlessly. I love that movie, really need to add it to my collection.

Thank you for the awesome give away.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is driving through lights displays (whether in parks or neighborhoods). It's always at the top of our list come the first snow fall.
I would love to receive the second set of fabrics (Michael Miller, etc.). Thanks for this fun giveaway!

Those fabrics are beautiful! Perfect for some upcoming Christmas gift projects.

Our favorite holiday tradition is going to the beach on Christmas morning. Lucky we live Hawaii! :)

Happy Thursday!

Christmas tradition: since we don't get snow too often, at the first snow we all load up into the car after dark and ride around looking at everyone's lights! :)

susan said...

We also don't get much snow, and it rarely comes on Christmas, usually in January. We love to bundle up, grab the dog and walk the neighborhood looking at all the beautiful lights.

I love the first set, but the second set would be nice to, I am easy to please, I just want to win something, anything... Baking Christmas cookies is my favorite holiday tradition, with my kids and now my grandchildren and we even have one great grand child who likes to put on the sprinkles, or maybe she justs like sprinkling her tongue...

My favorite tradition are our candy/chocolate filled advent calendars. Nothing beats seeing exciting children running down the stairs each morning in December to see what little surprise there is that day.
I'd love to win the Moda fabric. Thanks hosting the giveaway.

Our favorite tradition is coffee cakes and keuchan on Christmas while we are opening gifts.

I love the first set you your give away ...thanks so much.

my aunts and uncles always had a gift exchanse, there were 7 of them, so each child gave to another, drew names, you know the deal. When they started getting married, spouces could choose to be included as an individual or a couple. My cousin joined two years ago, and I joined three years ago. It;s neat to be included in something that now spans generations.

When I was little I could open one present Christmas eve. So of course, I would shake them all, check out their weight and make my selection. One year there was this small gift that rattled and jingled so that one just had to be opened!! It was an empty margarine container that my dad had put a couple of clothes pins and small bells in. He thought it was hilarious....I did not! :) Needless to say, mom gave in and let me open another gift as she wasn't in on dad's scheme. In hindsight, it was quite clever of him :)

Thank you for the opportunity to win your fab. fabric - I actually prefer selection #2, but I would be happy with either. - Elizabeth

The Michael Miller set is so fun! We're just starting our Christmas traditions and it's so fun to read what everyone else is doing - thanks for sharing!

We are just starting to figure out what traditions we want to put in place in our family... We are really excited about incorporating Christmas traditions into the mix and are thinking of using Noel Piper's Advent Calendar that uses a lot of repetition to help the kiddos get excited about the season.

Thanks so much for the giveaway, and look forward to reading your blog in the future! I love both sets of fabric.

The second set of fabric is what I would pick. Thanks for giving!

I love those second fabrics.. very pretty... I don't have a favorite holiday tradition... though for about 15 years now, I've waited in line to pick up a KBCO studio C CD for myself and my cousin... tomorrow morning, and it's gonna be a cold one. :P I guess it wouldn't be Christmas without that.

I LOVE set number 2 and we traditionally see the Christmas lights every year.

Love the Michael Miller fabric! I'd be so excited to win anything though!

My favorite christmas tradition has got to be going to pick out a tree the day after Thanksgiving. When I was a kid I'd go with my mom and she'd take for.e.ver to pick out the "right" tree. I used to complain when I was a kid, but now I do the same thing!
